Rock School
    Course Details:
    • Indoor Session - Wednesday, April 24th, 6-9pm. Location TBA.

    • Outdoor sessions 1 & 2 - Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28, 8am to 4pm. John C. Shields Park (aka, Minnehaha), 5625 E Upriver Drive, Spokane, WA.

    • Outdoor Session 3 - Saturday, May 4, 8am to 4pm. Q'emiln Park, Post Falls, ID.
    • Outdoor Session 4 - Saturday, May 11, 8am to 4pm. Q'emiln Park, Post Falls, ID.
  • Cost - $100

  • Course Directors - Carol Smucker and Katie Cartier-Luthy

  • Rock School is designed to teach the basics of outdoor rock climbing including:
      • how to tie in to a climbing rope
      • proper belay technique
      • safe climbing practice, such as "buddy checks"
      • climbing technique
      • rappelling
      • use of established anchors to set up a top rope system
      • an introduction to building anchors using natural features
      The $100 course fee will be billed upon acceptance to the course.  The course is limited to 14 participants.  Participants must be 15 or older and those under 18 must submit written parental approval.  All participants must be members of the Spokane Mountaineers.       Application Process
      The application link below will take you to a form. Please fill this out carefully and completely.
       
      You will be notified of the status of your application the week of April 15th at the latest. If you have been accepted to Rock School, the email you receive will contain a PayPal link. This link will enable you to pay the $100 course tuition via a credit card or personal PayPal account. Payment is due within five business days of the email notification. Thank you!
