Stevens Lakes are in two alpine glacier-carved hollows on the Idaho/Montana border. Locally popular with backpackers, the lakes are often the site of Mountain School snow practice in the spring. Our main project will be cleaning up the camps and doing some minor brushing as needed. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring gloves, lunch, plenty of water, and clothing for the weather. Trail is about 5 miles RT with 1700 feet of elevation gain. Directions to Fernan Ranger Station: In Cd'A, leave I-90 at Exit 15 (Sherman Ave). At the stoplight on Sherman, turn left and go under the freeway overpass, the ranger station will be on your right and we'll carpool from there. If interested, give leader a call or e-mail so tools and refreshments can be arranged. Lynn Smith,
