THIS TRIP MAY BE POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY, DUE TO HEAVY SMOKE. STAY TUNED. Last year, I talked a long time hiking partner into exploring an area SW of Ball Lakes. Part of the route is on the Pacific Northwest Trail. See https://www.pnt.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/2019-PNT-Overview-Maps-FWV.pdf, page 4, trail section #15A. What we found was yet another Lunar Landscape to explore. The hike starts at the Pyramid Lake Trailhead. We will continue on to Ball Lakes, then over the SW ridge, for a spectacular ridge hike on the Lunar Landscape, for a total of 4 miles one way. Lunch will have views of the Lions Head Peaks to the west. I would rate this hike as moderate. But it’s the Lunar Landscape that will capture your attention. This feature is about 600’ X 100’, and will amaze you. Please sign up on line, then call me at 208.659.8183, for approval. Amy Voeller will co-lead this trip. Group size limit based on current Covid-19 requirements at the time of the trip. We will meet at the Athol Super 1 at 6:40am and depart at 7am sharp.
