Skip the shopping crowds and opt outside for Black Friday! This will be a hike if there isn't much snow yet, and traction devices may be required in case it's icy. If there is enough snow, this will be a snowshoe hike. Watch for updates in the days leading up to this trip to see gear requirements. Trail 131 is in the process of being re-routed, and this hike will include a service component of placing the blue diamond trail markers in preparation for the upcoming snowshoe season. As time allows, we may also pull the markers from the old route. I'll have the markers and tools needed for the job, but helpers may want to consider having work gloves. Dog friendly hike; leash and poop-pickup required. Afterwards we can stop by the chalet for hot cocoa; bring some left-overs to share! No dogs allowed inside the chalet, so please plan accordingly. This is a State Parks free day, & SnoPark permits aren't required until December 1st: so no parking permit required today! ***11/26 event update: it doesn't look as Mount Spokane is going to receive significant snowfall prior to this event, so NO SNOWSHOES required. I do recommend microspikes, as there is a little snow on the ground and the trails will likely be icy. We will also be walking on very uneven ground through the re-route area. Bundle up, as it the forecast is for a low of 18F & a high of 30F. We'll be moving slowly as we place the snowshoe trail signs, so everyone will want lots of layers.***
