THIS TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO THE 15-16th DUE TO BAD WEATHER. THIS HIKE IS FULL. PLEASE CALL ME ONLY AT 208.659.8183 TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. For over 30 years I’ve been leading this hike/paddle/scramble to show our members the most amazing way to enjoy this high country lake. Member Amy Voeller has stepped up as co-leader of this event. After meeting to carpooling from Athol at 9am, we will first visit the Ross Creek Cedars on Hwy 56. This side trip lasts about an hour. If you have never visited these 1000 to 1500 years old trees, you are in for an enjoyable walk. After the Cedars we will drive up to Hwy 2 and visit the massive Kootenai Falls. This side trip will take about 1.5 hours. Then we are off to Henry’s in Libby, Montana for dinner. After dinner we will get last minute supplies at Roseaurs before carpooling to near the trailhead. On Sunday morning we will head up the trail at 7:30. Once at the lake, we will blow up our rafts ( I can supply 4 rafts, 3 paddles, and 3 PFD’s, and two air pumps). After getting everyone on the water, we will paddle around icebergs to the 3000’ back wall, and on to the beach where we will have our lunch. After lunch, if all are interested, we can hike up into the “amphitheater” for outstanding views of Leigh Lake. Then paddle back to the take out and deflate our rafts and head down to the cars. PLEASE BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 13 essentials, lunch & libations, trail snacks, dress for all weather conditions, car camping supplies including breakfast, Second Skins for blisters, PFD’s, sturdy boots, and don’t forget your camera. Please register on our website AND CALL ME AT 208.659.8183 with your interest in attending. If you do not call me, you will not be included in this trip. I will form a waiting list, so PLEASE CALL ME ASAP if you have to cancel, so I can add those on the waiting list. This trip will cancel if the winds are up.
