Lead Rock Climbing School 2016

Lead Rock Climbing School

DIRECTORS: Rich Bennett and Andrew Ratcliff

Are you ready to take rock climbing to the next level and climb on "the sharp end of the rope"? Lead climbing opens up endless possibilities of places to climb safely without having to access the tope rope anchors. Lead Rock School provides you with the instruction on how to safely lead sport and trad climbs.

See the schedule information listed below. For specific dates, times and locations, see the Summer Kinnikinnick write up and application or view the Climbing activities listing on this web site.

Each student is responsible for having a harness, shoes, and belay device suitable for belaying a lead climber during all outdoor sessions. Students are required to be current Spokane Mountaineer members and able to comfortably climb 5.8 sport routes. This is not a learn to climb class.

Below is a list of recommended additional gear and what the club will provide. We recommend that you attend the indoor session prior to purchasing any gear.

Recommended additional personal gear:

  • Daisy Chain or personal anchor tie in
  • Extra carabineers (2 or 3 locking)
  • Perlon Cord (6mm or 7mm) 16-20 feet

Club provides:

  • Helmets and Ropes
  • Quickdraws
  • Trad Gear

The Directors of Lead School 2016 are looking forward to helping you build on your existing skills.
