How do I join the club?

You can join online here, using a credit card. You may also download, print and mail in a membership application and mail it with payment to:

The dues cost are for a full year (January 1st through December 31st). New members joining after September 1st. will be paid through the following membership year. There is a one-time initiation fee of $5 which is waived for associate, junior, college and military memberships.  All memberships that are not renewed for the coming year will expired and become inactive January 31st.

Individual: $35.00
Joint (Two members residing at the same address who receive one Kinnikinnick): $55.00
College Student: $20.00
Active Military: $20.00
Junior (Ages 15 to 17. Parental permission required to join.): $10.00
Associate (Residing 60 miles or more outside the city of Spokane): $25.00

What kind of activities do you offer?

The Spokane Mountaineers offer outdoor activities that include various rock & mountain climbing events, hiking & backpacking, road biking & mountain biking, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, and paddling.

The club supports and encourages various volunteer activities that support our outdoor life. We have a Conservation arm of the club that is very active in helping to acquire new public lands for outdoor use and volunteer trail maintenance.

Does the club provide outdoor education?

Yes! We are about educating people so they can better enjoy their outdoor activities. The club currently has annual schools for climbing, backpacking, mountain biking. We offer educational classes in wilderness first aid, avalanche rescue, and leadership training.

Do you have regular meetings I can attend?

We have a monthly General Membership meeting that is open to the public who wish to learn more about our club.  Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of the month except in January and February they are held the following Tuesday.  Please review the Activites/Clubwide/Events pages for the topics of these presentations.   Committees hold regular meetings to conduct their business and planning needed throughout the year. 

How do I go on a club outing?

Members may log on to their account on our website and chose the Event. There you will see all of the information about the event and who is leading it.  Each event will have some sort of sign up method.  Even if the event is list as a Public event, we encourage you to Join it if you plan to attend.   If you are a new member and not clear on something about the event it is a good idea to call the event leader to get any other pertinent information. If you are not currently a member, you are welcome to attend up to three events as a guest. Please contact the leader before attending en event as a guest.

What are the 13 essentials?

These are items considered critical to dealing with any issue that might arise in an outdoor setting. Some possible issues might be, weather change, injury, rough terrain, navigational difficulties, darkness, etc.
