As we walked the Split Creek trail in Liberty Lake Regional Park the other day, I noticed a very unusual bird walking before me.
This bird is so unusual that you may never see it, or notice its peculiar ways. It is a Western Trail Flicker. Never heard of it, you say. Remember, I said it was unusual. This unique bird is well adapted to its surroundings, and is very comfortable in the mountains. It’s rather tall for a bird, standing about 5’6”, with a fluffy head of blondish plume, that seems to have a mind all its own...
